From Monday, April 24th to Friday, April 28th, 2023, the 28th edition of the Las Rozas School Olympics was celebrated. An event that brings together more than 11,000 students from across the municipality for exciting sports days. At the European School of Madrid (CEM), we are very proud to have participated once again, from 3rd grade to 2nd year of Baccalaureate, in these thrilling competitions.

At CEM, sports is an invaluable tool for promoting the values that define us: honesty, audacity, collaboration, effort, and respect. These values are reflected in each of our students and are aligned with those promoted by sports.

Additionally, our headteacher, Marta Pérez, had the privilege of attending the inauguration of the Olympics on Sunday, April 23rd. Along with some of our students and teachers, we witnessed a proud moment as CEM paraded in front of the official stand. The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the Mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, presided over the ceremony, highlighting the importance of sports in education.

One of the most memorable moments of the ceremony was when the Olympic torch was lit by the renowned basketball player Felipe Reyes. His presence and sporting achievements inspired our students, reminding them that with dedication and effort, great goals can be achieved.

During the School Olympics, our athletes have shone in various disciplines, both in individual and team competitions, showcasing talent, skill, and commendable competitive spirit. Each medal won is a testament to their dedication and hard work. We are proud of each and every one of them and congratulate them on their exceptional performance.

At the European School of Madrid, we will continue to promote sports practice and foster the values that sports teach. We are committed to the comprehensive development of our students, and the Las Rozas School Olympics is an invaluable opportunity to cultivate their passion for sports and strengthen their character. Congratulations to all participants and to everyone who makes this wonderful sports event possible! Let us continue to inspire and educate our young athletes on their path to success and excellence.
