The Multilingual Programme of the European School of Madrid contemplates not only the linguistic front, but also the emotional one; since CEM‘s educational model aims to develop empathetic children, with initiative, willing to take a step to bring cultures closer together, learn from differences and appreciate diversity.

Multilingual Education

At the linguistic level, immersion in English in the Infant stage is up to two thirds of the day and, with our Polyglot Babies Project, we facilitate the learning of different languages in the future. From 1st of Primary, in a Bilingual environment (English-Spanish), we offer the possibility of choosing as a second foreign language German, Chinese or French and in Secondary, students can opt for a third language.

The methodology applied by our teachers for the teaching of languages, the multilingual environment they promote and the diversity of backgrounds of the school’s own students, promote effective language learning and the appreciation of multiculturalism.

Study Abroad Programme: Encouraging International mindedness

“A life learning experience outside the classroom and abroad enriches the pupil’s curriculum and learning. It opens new horizons”.

Our Study Abroad Program is designed for children between 11 and 14 years old being able to attend one of the Cognita schools during 1 term (September to December), 2 terms (September to March/April) or an academic year (September to June/July).

The goal of this program is to continue to offer the maximum possibilities of development for our students and to grow with a global mindset forging their character in a changing world within a safe environment.

We connect with other Cognita Schools

Being part of the international group of schools Cognita has multiple advantages and, among them, the possibility of connecting our students with children from other countries, with another language and another culture. The main objective is to offer a global learning experience regardless the distance or any other circumstances.

Official Language Tests

At the European School of Madrid we prepare our students to successfully take the official tests of the English, French, German and Chinese languages. In addition, CEM is certified as a Cambridge Exam Preparation Center.

English (Cambridge ESOL): Students take the Cambridge ESOL tests, officially recognised by the British education authorities. The European College of Madrid is an authorized cambridge examination centre.
French (DELF): Degree awarded by the French Ministry of National Education, through the Alliance Française.
German (Fit in Deutsch): Goethe-Zertifikat: examinations of the Goethe-Institut of international recognition.
Chinese (YCT): official exams organized by the Confucius Institute of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid.
