First Cycle of Early Years Education in Las Rozas from 4 Months

At Colegio Europeo de Madrid, we support our youngest children from their very first months of life, creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment where they can grow, explore and begin to build their own identity.

From the age of 4 months, we provide a space designed for each child’s overall wellbeing, where care, emotional bonding and early stimulation come together to encourage balanced development. At the same time, we maintain close and ongoing communication with families, supporting them throughout this key stage of early childhood.

Pre-PYP in Action: Discover our own programme, inspired by the IB philosophy.

Inquiry-based learning is the foundation of our Pre-PYP programme. Through questions, meaningful experiences and play, children explore the world around them and actively build their own understanding.

This is how they learn every day:
Psychomotor development as a fundamental pillar of early learning
Early stimulation programmes, including therapeutic massage
Individualised support tailored to each child's pace of development
Celebrating every achievement, strength and early milestone
Developing skills, attitudes and values from the earliest years
A multisensory approach and unplugged learning through direct, hands-on experiences
Early mathematical learning through play, exploration and the manipulation of materials
Sensory Room: a dedicated multisensory space that encourages exploration, well-being and learning through the senses

Frequently Asked Questions on Infants

We provide a high-quality Early Years education focused on the holistic development of children from 4 months to 6 years of age. Our educational programmes are designed to nurture curiosity, creativity and learning through play, within a safe, caring and nurturing environment.

The Early Years at Colegio Europeo de Madrid combine personalised care with an international, inquiry-based approach that promotes active learning and the holistic development of every child. From the First Cycle of Early Years (ages 1–2), children begin their learning journey through the Pre-PYP, our own programme inspired by the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). It encourages curiosity, exploration and learning through meaningful experiences. In the Second Cycle of Early Years (ages 3–6), pupils continue with the PYP, further developing their knowledge, skills and international-mindedness.

The Pre-PYP is Colegio Europeo de Madrid's own programme for children aged 1 and 2, inspired by the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). Through play, exploration and concept-based learning experiences tailored to their stage of development, children begin to develop curiosity, independence, communication skills and critical thinking, laying the foundations for a smooth transition into the PYP.

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is one of the four programmes offered by the International Baccalaureate (IB), designed for children aged 3 to 11. At Colegio Europeo de Madrid, the PYP begins in the Second Cycle of Early Years and promotes an inquiry-based, concept-driven approach to learning. It supports the development of knowledge, skills, attitudes and attributes that prepare pupils to thrive in an ever-changing, global world. Through play, exploration and concept-based learning experiences tailored to their stage of development, children begin to develop curiosity, independence, communication skills and critical thinking, laying the foundations for a smooth transition into the PYP.

At Colegio Europeo de Madrid, Early Years takes place in an English language immersion environment, where English is the main language used throughout most of the school day. Through play, daily routines and meaningful learning experiences, children acquire English naturally, developing their communication skills with confidence from an early age.

At Colegio Europeo de Madrid, children's safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities. We provide a safe, caring and nurturing environment supported by secure facilities, trained first aid staff and clear emergency procedures. Every aspect of our Early Years setting is designed to help children feel safe, confident and happy, so they can learn, play and thrive every day.

At Colegio Europeo de Madrid, families play an active role in their child's learning journey from the very first year of Early Years. Throughout the school year, they take part in initiatives such as Open Classes, where they experience first-hand how their children learn, and Student-Led Conferences, during which pupils share their progress and learning with their families. We also organise activities such as Stay and Play sessions, celebrations and family events that strengthen the partnership between home and school, creating a close-knit, engaged community committed to every child's development.
